Our Mission

The Law Enforcement Benevolent Fund is currently comprised of members from more than 20 law enforcement agencies in Northern Virginia. The mission of the Law Enforcement Benevolent Fund is to provide an immediate financial assistance to the member’s beneficiaries as a means of covering the expenses of a funeral along with the day to day living expenses until a life insurance policy is paid.

Who is eligible?

The benefit from the Law Enforcement Benevolent Fund is not intended to replace “normal” insurance policies. These take time before the funds are available and are usually intended for long-term assistance to the beneficiary. The Law Enforcement Benevolent Fund is intended to provide immediate financial support to those who need it right away, until the other insurance is available:

  • Those feeding the family
  • Those paying the mortgage, rent, or other bills
  • Those needing to pay child care
  • Those making funeral arrangements

As such, careful consideration should be given to who is expected to be handling these affairs. Minor children, for example, would not be responsible for these matters (and should not be listed as beneficiaries–more info can be found on our FAQ page).
